A Place to Connect

“And what does the Lord require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy
and to walk humbly with your God.”
(Micah 6:8, NIV)

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart
and with all your soul and with all your mind…
Love your neighbor as yourself.”
(Matthew 22:37-38, NIV)

Reverend Dr. Irven A. Gammon (Pastor Irv) has been the pastor at Florence Congregational Church since September 16, 2005. Formerly, he served as student minister at the Warren Congregational Church in Warren, Maine and then in the Rockland Congregational Church in Rockland, Maine. In 2001, he became Associate Minister at the Rockland Church. In 2003, Pastor Irv received a B.A. in Christian Traditions from St. Joseph’s College in Standish, Maine and a Master of Divinity from Bangor Theological Seminary. The two above scripture passages guide our Pastor's faith journey and ministry.

Prior to pursuing a ministerial vocation Pastor Irv had worked 20 years in building construction, co-owning and operating Gammon Bros Construction, a family business in Maine. Pastor Irv believes there is a great need today for religious education and training for youth and adults alike. He enjoys visitation and feels that preaching provides an opportunity to expound upon the Word of God within the context of community life today, seeking the guidance of the Holy Spirit for discernment and engagement as Christ' agents of peace. Pastor Irv brings enthusiasm and a fresh outlook on the role of FCC in Florence and the greater community. One of his goals is to move FCC into the future with new vision and strategy to share God’s Word with an ever-changing world.

Pastor Irv and his wife Brenda have been married for 32 years and have two children, Katherine who has 3 children and Jessica who received a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education in 2007.
