A Place to Connect

November 2016

I anticipate you will receive this newsletter only days before the week of Bazaar preparations... the “rolling week” of Bazaar.   Rolling week as in the blast of baking a hundred pies for the Saturday November 5th Bazaar, not to mention the dozens of cookies, biscuits, and prepared take out foods.  It is an incredible week of blessing, bustling, and fellowship as people show up to help in this grand annual event.

I hope you have/make time to come and help in this important ministry and fundraiser. The Northeast Fellowship of Congregational Christian Churches’ Annual Fall meeting takes place the weekend after the Bazaar in Cromwell Connecticut. Several members have signed up to represent the church at this special meeting. That same weekend, on Sunday November 13th, the Florence Church gathers for its fall Budget and Election meeting after worship. This too is extremely important as we will once again discuss the path and journey we believe God calls us to.

Brenda and I are very excited to be able to celebrate Thanksgiving with our daughter, Jessica and her fiancé this year.  They are traveling down from Maine to be with us for Thanksgiving and the weekend. May your day be blessed with family and friends. Two weeks after our Budget meeting we enter the season of Advent (Nov. 27th). This year we celebrate the Advent season with a journey through the true gifts of Christmas.   If you could ask for any gift in the world, what would it be?

This Christmas, unwrap four of the most important gifts we could ever receive.   The season of Advent, the four weeks leading up to Christmas, is a time to prepare our hearts to celebrate the coming of the ultimate gift, Jesus Christ.  Come join in our celebration of the Advent themes of Hope, Love, Joy and Peace.  The youth will lead worship on the 11th including the grand sounds of our junior choir members.

Many of you have probably already come to realize that Christmas falls on Sunday this year.  I believe this is the third time in my twelve years with you.  We will worship Sunday morning with great gladness and joy.   We hope to see all of you here.... It IS after all, “the reason for the season!”
